About Dr. Kunal Mandlik

Dr. Kunal Mandlik is an experienced ophthalmologist specializing in cornea, corneal transplantation, refractive surgery, and cataract surgery. He completed his MBBS from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai, in 2009, followed by an MS in Ophthalmology from Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College, Nashik, under Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in 2014. He completed a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry, in 2016 and has pursued advanced international training in lamellar corneal transplantation and eye banking at the University of Iowa, the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA. He has also received the Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and Fellow of the World College of Refractive Surgery (FWCRS) distinctions.

Dr. Mandlik previously served as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Cornea and Refractive Surgery and as Deputy Director of the Eye Bank at Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry. With experience in more than 30,000 surgeries involving cataract, corneal transplantation, and refractive procedures, he has contributed to clinical practice, research, and innovation in ophthalmology. He has presented at national and international conferences, including those organized by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO). His recognitions include the Best Innovator Award at AIOC 2023, the APAO–AIOC International Heroes of Ophthalmology Award, and the YOSI International Rising Star recognition in 2025. He has also contributed to peer-reviewed publications and ophthalmic innovation initiatives.
