Dr. Sabyasachi Chakrabarty completed his MBBS training from NRS Medical College Kolkata in 2012. He earned his Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO) from the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology in 2014. He completed his residency at Aravind Eye Hospital & PG Institute of Ophthalmology, Tirunelveli, and cleared the Diplomate of National Board examinations (DNB) in 2016. For his performance in his DNB examinations, he was awarded the Dr. G Venkataswamy Gold Medal in Ophthalmology. He finished his long-term fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Aravind Eye Hospital in 2018. In 2018, he also passed the subspecialty examination conducted by the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He was awarded the Fellowship of the All India Collegium of Ophthalmology (FAICO) in Pediatric Ophthalmology in 2019. He has been a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO) since 2016 and of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS) since 2019. He has been a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS) since 2019.
Professional Experience and Skills
He worked as a Consultant in General Ophthalmology and Cataract services from November 2016 to April 2017 and later as a Consultant in Pediatric Ophthalmology from November 2018 to January 2022 at Aravind Eye Hospital and PG Institute of Ophthalmology, Tirunelveli. He has worked as a Consultant in Pediatric and Comprehensive Ophthalmology at Vivekananda Mission Ashram Netra Niramay Niketan, Chaithanyapur, from February 2022 to October 2023. He is proficient in cataract surgeries in adults and children through phacoemulsification and SICS techniques. He is conversant with the implantation of different types of intraocular lenses. He has experience in the medical and surgical management of double vision, squints, and nystagmus in all age groups. He is keenly interested in treating pediatric ophthalmological disorders like “lazy” eye, ocular allergies, and progressive refractive errors.

He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been a speaker at national conferences. He is a member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS), the All India Ophthalmological Society, the Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association, and the Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmological Society of India.
